1. Speed up crawling
Google crawls websites faster when they have a great link profile – in other words, sites that have more backlinks from high-authority domains.
If your website doesn’t have enough authority, you can increase that by building quality links. You can check the authority of your domain with these free tools: Ahrefs, Moz or ClickMinded.
Once you know the authority of your site, it’s time to create a link-building strategy for your website to increase the quality of its link profile. You can follow this guide from Yoast, the most popular WordPress SEO plugin, that helps you create a successful link-building strategy in six steps.

Your site might also experience slow crawling for technical reasons, including:
Slow website
If your website is slow, Google might lower the frequency at which it crawls your website by limiting the crawl budget, which also reduces the number of new and old URLs. So, if you make changes on older pages, they might not get updated for a lot longer than you want.
Google has been encouraging websites to get faster year after year, and this year confirmed that Core Web Vitals are becoming a ranking signal in May 2021. This means we need to make sure our websites are mobile friendly, using HTTPS, without intrusive interstitials, and fast.
Making your website faster won’t just help with getting crawled faster, but is also an important ranking factor.
Large number of URLs
This is usually a problem for ecommerce, marketplaces and large media websites, which have complicated architectural structures or faceted navigation, or which generate thousands of URLs automatically.

It’s recommended to use a crawler if your website has thousands or millions of pages. This will help you understand how Google is crawling and will provide ideas for how to optimize the architecture of the site.
To do this, you can use Botify, Screaming Frog or Ryte. Each of these tools gives different information and recommendations on how to fix site architecture issues as well as On Page problems.
Too many errors
Google doesn’t want to send people to pages with errors or sites that are down too often, so if your site gets too many errors that will impact the crawling of the whole website.
Make sure to check errors on Google Search Console or Bing Webmaster Tools, and also use a crawler like Screaming Frog or Sitebulb. This last one will give you recommendations to help fix all the issues.
If the server is down too often, change to another host. At Key Content we use WP Engine because of their great uptime, fast servers, and brilliant customer service.

2. Get indexed fast
The easiest way to get indexed fast is to use the URL inspection tool on Google Search Console, which helps request the indexation of pages. The “request indexing” feature was disabled for the last couple of months and the tool is back online.
Other ways to get pages indexed quickly is by using a sitemap or adding internal links from important pages, like the homepage of other pages that get organic traffic. You can update old content where it makes sense to add internal links to new pages.
3. Rank and grow traffic
There are many ways to rank and grow your organic traffic faster:
Improve the CTR
Using modifiers and qualifiers to your titles, writing more compelling meta descriptions, and adding rich snippets might help improve the click-through rate even if your pages are not ranking high.
Checking the top results in the keywords your website ranks for can give you ideas on how to differentiate yourself from your competitors.
Some ideas for improving your CTR:
- Add modifiers or qualifiers
- Use call-to-action verbs
- Add numbers to lists
- Add the current month or year to constantly update content
- Add prices or discounts
Update old content and internal links
Add new and original information to your cornerstone pages, such as rumors, tips, news, and better explanations.
Also, explanatory and original images, videos or graphs can help send signals to Google and help users better understand your content.
You can also try to update the content with related keywords, variations and synonyms.
Build links from high-quality sites
Earning links will definitely help move the needle for new content, or content that’s already indexed but not ranking high enough. The higher the quality and greater the number of relevant links, the better and faster your site will improve its rankings.
Getting a large quantity of links from high-authority sites is very difficult, but not impossible. In the SEO world we are always reading about viral pieces of content that gather hundreds of links.
What we don’t see much is the struggle to get links from any site, regardless of its size or authority. Link-building is hard, and we encourage you to learn as much about it as you can.
Target low-difficulty keywords and increase publishing velocity
Doing keyword research can help you find keywords with lower difficulty that are easy to rank with and so improve your organic traffic.
If you increase your publishing velocity with low-difficulty keywords, this can increase search traffic really quickly. You can also use this new content to link internally to more difficult keywords with bigger volumes.

How long does SEO take to show results?
If your site is new with no backlinks, your site may take some months, about 6 months, to start getting traffic from Google. The more you publish and more quality links you can get the faster you will see some results.
If your site has more than 6 months with some pages indexed and maybe ranking for some keywords in positions 40-70, you may need more quality links (from DR 30+), internal links from other relevant pages and keep publishing content to rank on the first page.
Does SEO work instantly?
No, it will take about 6 months to see some results. From then, if your link profile, keep publishing quality content and doing the work it will grow much faster in less time.
For example, news sites with a great domain authority that publish dozens or hundreds of articles daily/weekly will rank instantly within minutes. Just because of their cadence of publishing and the power of their domain authority.
